I don’t think there’s an easier way to eat your vegetables – whether young or just young at heart – than with a dip. For those who complain about the taste, you can mask it with something creamy, something spicy, or something complex. Gone are those fears of yucky veggies – we’re here for flavor. So, I’ve made an artichoke dipping sauce that only needs seven ingredients and is ready in less than five minutes. Perfect if you’re looking for something impressive to whip up for a party or – as I prefer to use it – a healthy way to enjoy artichokes. This dip for artichoke leaves is mayo based, giving a creamy texture to compliment the crunch of the leaves. I’ve also infused my mayo artichoke dip with garlic and lemon, which will lift the heaviness of the mayo and yogurt and give it a much brighter flavor. This artichoke dip is packed full of bold flavors that you won’t find in the store-bought version. Plus it is so easy to make. And – it’s not just limited to artichoke leaves. Though their unique shape and distinctive crunch make them great vessels for artichoke mayo dip. You can also use this creamy dipping sauce with plenty of other veggies and appetizers. Try this artichoke dipping sauce with vegetable fritters or with roasted cauliflower or broccoli, roasted asparagus, or roasted Brussels sprouts. You can also add it to your dip rotation for your favorite treats, from air fried chicken wings to air fried french fries.

What is artichoke dipping sauce made of

To make the best dipping sauce for artichokes, you’ll need:

Mayonnaise: You can use full-fat or light or a plant-based alternative. You can even make mayonnaise at home! Yogurt: Greek yogurt is a great option for a dipping sauce for artichokes because it’s naturally thicker, but you can use any unflavored yogurt you prefer. Fresh lemon juice: If you don’t have lemon, any kind of citric acid should do to lift the flavor of artichoke dipping sauce. Try cider vinegar or lime juice. Mustard: I like using Dijon mustard for this dip for grilled or steamed artichoke because of the flavor, though you can use any high-quality mustard you like. Garlic clove: You want this as thin as you can get it so you get the flavor of garlic rather than a big chunk of it while you’re eating artichoke. Black pepper: For this recipe, we’re excluding pepper’s neighbor, salt. The ingredients give it enough of a savory taste. Chives: For garnish. These are totally optional, but they bring some much-needed color to a dip for artichokes.

How to make artichoke dipping sauce

My mayo dip for artichokes can be made as you cook the artichoke leaves. You can find my recipe for Easy Roasted Artichokes.  Start by mincing or grating the garlic. The trick is to get it very fine so it incorporates well into the artichoke dipping sauce. You can do this using a very sharp knife or just with an ordinary garlic mincer. Mix it with the remaining ingredients into a small bowl and whisk well until it’s smooth. Add the chopped chives and stir just until they’ve combined (you can also keep them loose on top). The dip should come out a slightly yellow color, with a creamy texture. Refrigerate until you plan to serve. When serving, grab your pre-cooked artichokes and carefully take the leaves from the bulb. Keeping the leaves intact will make it a lot easier to scoop up this delicious dip! Pour the artichoke dipping sauce into a bowl and surround it with the roasted leaves – perfect for easy dipping. Because of the fresher ingredients in the artichoke dipping sauce, this recipe won’t keep for a long time. If you’re planning to store your dip or want to make it in a larger batch, pour it into an airtight container. Place in the refrigerator. This dipping sauce will keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days – that’s if it lasts that long (it never does in my house!). Enjoy!
