When it comes to mid-week meals, there’s no better device in your kitchen than the crockpot. With minimal prep and simple ingredients, you can create an amazing dish like this crockpot steak and gravy. Plus, the low and slow cooking method turns tougher, cheaper cuts of steak into deliciously buttery morsels that are packed with flavor and bound to impress.
Storage
Before storing, allow the steak with gravy to cool completely. You’ll likely need to stir the gravy a little before transferring as it can develop skin when allowed to cool down. This is completely normal and will go away once you’ve stirred it. Next, add the Worcestershire sauce, salt (if using), black pepper, and butter (cut up into 2-3 pieces). Pour in the beef broth. Then cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours. The steak should fall apart and be fork-tender when it’s completely cooked. With Rice: If you prefer a lighter option, pair it with rice. The sauce complements the rice wonderfully. Roasted Potatoes: Roasted potatoes are another excellent choice. Their crispy texture contrasts beautifully with the tender steak. Vegetables: For extra goodness, pair this dish with fresh vegetables. Try it with greens like broccoli, asparagus and green beans or other veggies that do well with warming winter dishes like roasted carrots, sauteed mushrooms, or oven roasted parsnips. In the Fridge: Transfer any leftovers into a fridge-safe, airtight container. It should keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. In the Freezer: Transfer into a freezer-safe container or Ziplock bag. I find it easier to do this in individual portions as an easy grab-and-go option for mealtimes. Write the date on the front. It should keep for up to 2-3 months in the freezer. To Reheat: If frozen, allow the steak and gravy to thaw in the fridge overnight. Then transfer into a saucepan and reheat slowly until completely warmed through.
