Mango season is here, and it is one of my favorite times of the year. I have been buying mangoes like crazy, and I also freeze them to make this yummy mango milkshake recipe when I feel like it. Many fruit milkshake recipes use ice cream, however, today, I am sharing a popular and basic mango milkshake without ice cream. If you want your milkshake to be ultra-creamy, then add a scoop of vanilla ice cream while blending.
Mango Milkshake Recipe Ingredients
Here is everything you’ll need:
Mangoes: Use the best quality mangoes that are sweet, juicy, and non-fibrous to make a milkshake recipe. In India, Alphonso, Kesar, or Raspuri would be a good choice. In the USA, I prefer Ataulfo, Kent, or Keitt variety. You can also use Alphonso or Kesar canned mango pulp (I like the Laxmi Kesar mango pulp brand) if you can’t find a fresh one. Milk: I have used full-fat dairy milk here. However, you can use your favorite plant-based milk like almond, cashew, soy, or coconut milk. Sweetener: add a sweetener of your choice, like refined sugar, maple syrup, honey, agave, or stevia. If the mangoes are too sweet, you can skip adding them. Toppings: I’ve topped them with chopped pistachios.
How to Make Mango Milkshake
There are two ways to make this milkshake – one from freshly cut mangoes and the other using store-bought canned mango pulp. I am sharing both methods below.
Fresh Mangoes
Rinse, peel, and chop the mangoes into small cubes. In a high-speed blender, add freshly diced mango, milk, sugar, and ice cubes. Blend until smooth and creamy consistency. Garnish fresh mango shake with nuts and serve it chilled.
Canned Mango Pulp
If fresh mangoes are not in season, then using canned mango pulp is the next best option. For this canned mango milkshake recipe, you can substitute 1.25-1.5 cups of canned mango pulp with fresh chopped mango. Store-bought canned mango pulp contains added sugar, so adjust according to your taste or skip it.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this delicious mango shake as a soothing accompaniment with spicy Indian Curries, Naan, or Veg Biryani. You can also serve it as a light breakfast or snack.
Tips & Variations
Try to use sweet and non-fibrous mangoes for this milkshake, else strain it before serving. Most store-bought canned mango pulp contains added sugar, so adjust the sweetener according to your preference or skip it. Use full-fat milk to get a rich and creamy mango milkshake. To make it ultra-creamy, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream while blending. You may also add 1 small banana to make a mango banana milkshake. For Vegan mango milkshakes, use plant-based milk such as almonds, cashew, soy, and coconut instead of dairy milk.
