I used store-bought Alfredo sauce in this recipe, but you can easily prepare the sauce at home.
Ingredients for Fettuccini Alfredo
Firstly, gather all the ingredients required to make the pasta.
Fettuccine noodles - can substitute linguine pasta or spaghetti pasta Alfredo sauce - I have used store-bought classic creamy alfredo sauce from Traders Joe’s. You can prepare the sauce at home as well. Broccoli - I steamed broccoli before adding it to the pasta. You can find how to steam broccoli in instant pot in my blog.
How to Make Fettuccini Alfredo in Instant Pot
Add water, salt to the Instant Pot. Mix well. Then, add the dry fettuccini noodles. Most of the pasta should be covered in water. If it is not, add some more water. Close the Instant Pot with the pressure valve to Sealing. Cook on High Pressure for 4 minutes. This recipe uses fettuccini noodles and requires 10 minutes to cook on the stovetop. To cook in the Instant Pot, Divide the cooking time by half and minus one for al dente pasta. So it’s 4 minutes. For softer pasta, do 5 minutes. When the instant pot beeps, Wait 2-3 minutes and then Quick Release the remaining pressure manually. Open the lid and drain if there is any extra water. Turn on Sauté mode on Instant Pot. Stir in the alfredo sauce, black pepper, salt, and steamed broccoli, and mix everything well. Add more alfredo sauce if you want a more creamy texture. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring in between. When done, garnish with dried or fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Homemade Alfredo Sauce Stovetop Method
Homemade Alfredo Sauce can be made with the following ingredients
¼ cup butter 1 cup heavy cream ¾ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese or more 1 teaspoon garlic powder salt & pepper to taste parsley for garnish 8 oz fettuccini noodles

Generally, The time to cook pasta in an instant pot is usually half of the suggested time on the pasta box and minus one for al dente pasta. Using penne pasta in this recipe which has 10 minutes for cooking on the stovetop. So to cook on Instant Pot – Divide the cooking time by half and minus one for al dente pasta. So it’s 4 minutes. Make sure you have enough water to cover most of the pasta underwater. Depending on the shape and size of pasta you may need more or fewer liquids.
