Oct 31, 2013, Updated May 07, 2023 This has to be the easiest Diwali sweet that you can make. This coconut ladoo recipe requires only 2 basic ingredients.
- finely shredded coconut
- condensed milk Can it get easier than that? The remaining 2 ingredients, cardamom powder and almonds are optional. It took me only 10 minutes to finish these coconut ladoos.
I used store brought finely shredded coconut in this recipe but using fresh coconut will definitely enhance the taste. So if possible, use fresh coconut. Also these coconut ladoos can be made in so many ways, these I made using condensed milk but one can also make them in the traditional way using sugar syrup. The condensed milk just saves time. Method
Put the finely shredded coconut in a pan and roast for 2 minutes at low flame.
Add the cardamom powder (optional) and mix.
Add the condensed milk and mix till all the coconut is coated with condensed milk.
In a few minutes, the mixtures becomes thick. Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool down for 5 minutes.
Apply some ghee/unsalted butter on your palm, take some mixture and make a round ball out of it.
Roll the ladoo in some finely shredded coconut and garnish with sliced almonds. Coconut ladoos are ready to eat!
- Use 1 cup of condensed milk if want the ladoos to be sweeter. 1/2 cup worked well for me but you can always adjust the sweetness according to your taste.
