Gujiya Truffles

Mar 16, 2024 I love making fusion truffles inspired by Indian desserts like burfi truffles, paan truffles for festivals like Diwali and Holi. The festival of colors, Holi, is incomplete without gujiya and if you don’t want to do the whole process of making gujiya from scratch and still want to enjoy the taste of gujiya, then try these Gujiya truffles. Making gujiya from scratch takes time, and while I love doing that (and have such fond memories of making it with mom), over the years I have also come up with fun versions of it which are quick, easy to make and ideal to serve at parties and potlucks....

Healthy Mushroom Lentil Vegan Meatballs

I don’t know what it is about lentils and mushrooms, but they are amazing ingredients for making delicious meatless meatballs that don’t taste like vegan meatballs. The texture and flavor are out of this world and, honestly, I prefer them to their meaty counterpart. More and more mushroom and pea-based vegan products have been entering our supermarkets in the past few years – from shroomdogs, mushroom “mince” and, of course, shroomballs....

Homemade Choco Bar Ice Cream

Jul 07, 2022 Which ice cream immediately takes you to your childhood days? For me it is Choco bar and Feast! For those who grew up in India during the 90s would totally get what I am talking about. That ice cream cart vendor selling choco bar, mango twist, cornetto and feast would be my favorite person during summers. We would get money from mom once in a while to enjoy those summer treats and he would relish them so much....

Homemade Dairy Free Almond Yogurt

This post has been a long time in the making; you wouldn’t believe how happy I am that it’s ready. This simple homemade almond milk yogurt is a great dairy-free yogurt recipe for any of you who are lactose intolerant, soy-free, and/or aren’t keen on homemade coconut yogurt yet want to make homemade yogurt easily at home. Just like my coconut yogurt though, this recipe took countless tried-and-failed attempts at getting it ‘just right’ to be able to make the perfect consistency of dairy-free yogurt....

Homemade Ranch Dressing

Ranch dressing is a classic American salad dressing usually made from buttermilk, sour cream, sometimes mayonnaise, seasonings, herbs such as parsley, dill, and chives. It is one of the best-selling salad dressings in the United States. This buttermilk ranch dressing tastes fresh, creamy, herby, and tangy. The tang slightly comes from the sour cream and lemon juice. The herb flavors come from chives, dill, and parsley. You can use it as dressing for salads or dip for veggies, fries, or chips....

Homemade Stovetop Or Roasted Tomato Sauce Pasta Sauce

During tomato season I rush to make as many tomato-based dishes as possible while they’re at their ripest and juciest (like Caprese salad, Panzanella, tomato bruschetta, and Heirloom tomato salad). However, recipes like this stovetop/roasted tomato sauce from scratch are extra special. Because, you can make them during summer and freeze (or can) to enjoy for months to come! I’ve really enjoyed sharing my recent pasta-making pursuits, like this Potato Gnocchi, Vegan Pasta, Oat pasta, and Homemade Ricotta And Spinach Ravioli (among several other pasta recipes)....

How To Eat An Artichoke

Don’t be intimidated by eating an artichoke. If you’ve got the know-how, it’ll take pride of place on your next charcuterie board, crudité platter, or just as your appetizer of choice. When you enjoy artichokes, the main edible part is the “petals”. The heart of the artichoke can also be used, but the petals are best for dipping. Before you can eat them, of course, you need to rinse the artichokes, prep, and cook them....

Kashmiri Chili Powder Substitute

One of the most cherished chilies in every Indian home is Kashmiri Mirch or Kashmiri chili powder. It differs from other red chili varieties in India with its vibrant red hue and somewhat mild heat. However, what makes this chili so special, and where did it originate? The Kashmir Valley is where the Kashmiri mirch first appeared. Kashmiri red chili powder has become a culinary staple due to its variety, which includes adding a deep color to curries and stews and being an essential component in tandoori chicken and biryanis....

Oct 23, 2024 Kesar (saffron) and pista (pistachios) is such a classic combination. It’s used in numerous desserts worldwide and particularly in Indian and Middle eastern desserts.
